Trekking to Sept-Îles 2014, Part 2

We have made this trek to Sept-Îles, Quebec countless times…we used to go twice a year and some years we’ve had to make extra trips for funerals and anniversary celebrations. Throughout the drive all along that St Lawrence River, there are incredibly spectacular views, and special “overlooks” just off the highway. Over all these years, we’ve rarely ever stopped. Last year we did, and enjoyed the experience so much that hubby added more stops this year.

This particular stop is a scene we have passed by every trip we’ve made on this road to Sept-Îles. At 100 kmph speed, it was always just a blurry glimpse of something beautiful that I always wanted to see more of. This time we finally stopped to explore. And it was every bit as gorgeous as those blurry glimpses of the past had hinted at.

There is not a lot of information online about Sault-auMouton. The best English link I could find was here but it’s very short and basic. I can’t add anything more, but here are some great pictures of Sault-au-Mouton!

Sault-au-Mouton, Longue-Rive, Quebec: we found this very long staircase at the edge of the parking lot…hmmm, where does it go?

Sault-au-Mouton, Longue-Rive, Quebec: whoa! This was a long, very shaky suspension bridge…very scary when two very energetic boys came along and started bouncing on it, LOL

Now we’re back on the road again. Can you see that yellow plane? A few moments before I took this photo, that plane swooped down right in front of us, so low we could practically see the pilot! One of the few times on the trip I didn’t have my camera in my hands!

Stopping at one of those overlooks, somewhere northeast of Sault-au-Mouton, Longue-Rive, Quebec (that’s our new car, BTW)

This was another stop along the way…we passed many, many of these beautiful little lakes… (Côte-Nord, Quebec)

That’s it for this leg of the trip. Next stop: Sept-Îles!

About Sharon

I love to write. I love to write myself into being right here right now. Writing releases something in me that needs wings, writing opens doors and windows that I often don't even realize are possible, writing helps me breathe out the dusty old, and to breathe in the new and possible. My hope is that maybe writing here in this blog will bring new light into these dusty old hallways and help me to clear out the thinking processes and mindsets that just don't work for me anymore. I seek to breathe new light and life into the nooks and crannies of a soul that has been feeling somewhat lost and frayed because of the last few patches of road I've had to travel.

  1. Great pictures! I love stopping at the overlooks just to see what we can see. Sometimes it isn’t worth it, but oh so spectacular when it is!

It makes the long drive so much more enjoyable when we stop to explore and look out at the various scenic vistas along the way. Soaking all that beauty in is good for the soul.
